I don’t have great skin. I struggled all throughout my youth from cystic acne and have the scars to prove it. Well into adulthood (as in just this year, and I’m in my 30’s), I discovered by prolonged acne troubles were as a result of food allergies. Now that I know what to stay away from, I typically manage pretty well.
Beyond acne, I spent and continue to spend as much time as possible outside. I adore being outside and notice a huge shift in my mood and outlook on life when I’m cooped up for too long. I was never good about sunscreen, and burned badly a couple of times while I was a teenager on Accutane. I still rarely wear sunscreen (something to work on), but I am vigilant about long sleeves and a hat while outside.
Since entering my 30’s and beginning to notice changes in my skin, I’ve started to put more thought into my skin care. I’m not a proponent of spending thousands of dollars on skin creams, but I do believe it’s worthwhile to invest in a moisturizer that pairs well with your skin and a serum that fights free radicals. I picked up the SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic last year during a sale at Dermstore and man, have I noticed a difference. At the same time, I began using Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid and the two have paired quite nicely.
